I finally got all my benefit statements from my insurance, and before they paid any of the d&c, it was only a couple hundred shy of TEN THOUSAND dollars. As it stands, I will have to cover about $400 (if you include the two ultrasounds they did prior and the anesthesia charges, which are separate).
Some thoughts... First, that's more than I paid to actually have a baby in 2004. Second, that is a lot of damn money. Does it really, truly, cost $10,000, or is there some kind of inflation, padding, something?
I got the same sticker shock when PPJ had dental work done... she had to be admitted and anesthetized to have her teeth cleaned and cavities filled, and that was about the same before insurance.
I'm not too thrilled about the $400 I owe either, but at least I have a flexible-whatever-health account that I haven't used much of, so I can get reimbursed.
In other news, my disrict's method of interviewing and hiring people has resulted in my being on the interview team for the SIXTEENTH and SEVENTEENTH candidates for a teaching position today. Seriously.
What do "real" businesses do if different departments interview someone and both want to offer? Or are they coordinated enough to not allow that to happen in the first place?
